Round Robins, Shootouts, Challenge Courts Starting

This being our first year, and trying to run before walking, we have been a little slow getting some things into place.

But, we are ready to get going with Rated Play.  Rated Play is for EVERYONE.  Whatever level you play at is going to be accommodated in our events.

Anticipating that there are less of you interested in Rated Play than in Drop In play, we have only assigned 4 courts between 10:30 and 12:30 from Monday to Saturday for this type of play.

Our first actual scheduled event will be a Round Robin on Saturday.  I know the schedule says it is a Shootout, but we wanted to start off with a Round Robin because a number of the club members will be playing at Mission Royale in their annual tournament next week, and a Round Robin meets their needs while giving us a fun event to start with.

Here is what Allan Schreiber sent out last night to all club members for whom we have an email address.  If you are a member and did not get the email, please send an email to Allan at allanschreiber@gmail.com

If you do not get a chance to sign up or contact Allan or Michael, please show up on Saturday morning and we will do our best to accommodate your desire to participate.
We will be having the first Round Robin of the year here at Rincon Country West Pickleball Club on Saturday January 24, 2015 from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.
We are playing the Round Robin in pairs, so if you have a partner bring him/her along. If you do not have a partner, we will assign you one.
We will be grouping the Round Robin by skill levels as well in 2 categories for now.  We will have a section for people who are at skill levels less than 3.0, and one for 3.0 and above. If you are not familiar with your skill level, ask and we will be glad to help you get with the right group.
If your playing partner is not a member of the pickleball club invite him or her to come as a guest.  Members are welcome to invite guests for this Round Robin.  We can in theory support up to 32 pairs of players.
Each assigned game will be to 11 points, win by one.
There is a signup sheet at the courts, but if you wish to sign up and are not available to do so, email Michael Brandon at mbrandon8026@gmail.com to get added to the list.
Depending on how many people sign up in each of the two skill levels, each pair will play against as many of the other pairs of their category as time permits.
We will also be arranging Shootouts and Challenge Courts now that we are getting settled, and we will advise you as we get them set up.
As well, we do need event Captains (people who will take responsibility to help organize a Shootout, Round Robin or Challenge play), which means managing the signups and assigning courts by levels and numbers of players.  It is not onerous but helps to make things run smoothly.  If you can help us out, please let Michael know.
